Some exciting news today: KFTH now features a Search Function for bands (thanks Mike!). It does a good job of finding bands accurately and quickly, though there are still a few kinks to be ironed out. Bands with non-English characters (like ø, æ, Þ, etc.) or punctuation marks (like hyphens, apostrophes, etc.) might be a little harder to catch; we hope to address this at some point in the future.
Maybe the most significant thing about this update is the fact that this is the first actual site update (aside from data entry) since 2004! Hopefully this trend will continue and the site will see some more improvements in 2011.

"Annual KFTH Update" (Dec. 17, 2009)
Not too much to say besides work has continued on the site pretty consistently for the last year or so. I might have found someone local to help me with the programming side of things, but no promises. A search function would be one of the first things to be added. Also, if it pans out, I have two big long-term goals in that respect: 1) Expanding coverage of the site beyond the '80s to the present, and 2) Opening the site up so approved people can add/update/correct information (wiki-style). It remains to see if that will ever happen... I may also put a banner ad on the site at some point.
(Another note for people viewing the site for the first time: yeah, the band lists in the countries are hard to navigate, with the regional separations and 1-column vertical lists... it's another thing I'd like to change if I can get programming assistance...)
I still have a ton of unanswered emails in my inbox. Sorry...
One more thing: If you have found the site helpful and are inclined to "give something back," please instead consider making a donation to Maximum RocknrollHERE (the "Donate" link is towards the top on the right side of the screen). Like all print publications, MRR is finding it increasingly difficult to sustain itself in this day and age. KFTH wouldn't exist without MRR...
